Ing. Cynthia N.A Acquaye, (PE-GhIE, Civil Technical Division) , is currently a faculty member of the School
of Built Environment and also offers lecturing support to the Water Resources Development Department,
all of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya – Ghana. At the
University, she has taught courses in Hydrology, Hydraulics and Housing, Settlement & Water Access.
Cynthia has a Master’s Degree (Infrastructure Planning) from Universität Stuttgart, Germany and a
Bachelor’s Degree (Civil Engineering) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST) Kumasi, Ghana. She also holds a Master of Arts Degree (Guidance and Counseling) from the
Methodist University College Ghana (MUCG) due to her interest in human behavior & development,
teaching, helping and supporting people.
Prior to her work in academia, she worked in industry as a professional Civil Engineer for a period of
thirteen (13) years effectively. Her work in Industry has been in Water Supply Infrastructure Construction
& Borehole Drilling (for water) Projects in rural areas of Ghana, Togo & Benin. She also worked in the
Physical Development Directorate of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), where she was
responsible for issues concerning the operation & maintenance of water and waste water systems.

Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) – Ghana; Duration 2015 – 2022.

– Assistant Project Supervisor on Contractor’s Team (ABT Geothermie und Umwelttechnik GmbH).
Project Type: The Saudi Program for Drilling of Wells and Rural Development in Africa (Phase IV)
in the Republics of Benin and Togo. This involves the Drilling and Equipment of 250 Boreholes with
hand-pumps in the northern parts of these two (2) countries, where the demand for portable water
is still very high. Project Duration; 2010 – 2012.

– Assistant Project Engineer on Contractor’s Team (ABT Wasser und Umwelttechnik GmbH).
Project Type: Small Towns Water Supply & Sanitation Project (Civil Works concerning Pipe laying
in the Central Region and Borehole Mechanization & installation of Water Treatment and Pump
House Facilities in the Central and Western Regions). Project Duration 2008 – 2010.
