Dean’s welcome message

I have the great pleasure of extending a warm welcome to you to the School of Natural and Environmental Science (SNES) of the University Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD).

As many of you have already learned, SNES is home to outstanding interdisciplinary scholars, cutting-edge research, and innovative teaching that focuses on crucial issues on applied sciences, public health, environmental sustainability, and the power of creativity.

Given the nature of many national and global challenges, I believe Ghana and the entire world need applied skills and social sciences graduates. The School is motivated to train and produce graduates who are equipped with relevant knowledge and skills to be well-positioned as agents and partners in the identification and resolution of prevailing environmental and sustainable development challenges.

Bear in mind that the academic cycle provides a new perspective for growth, innovation, and success. Therefore, I want to encourage all students to actively participate in the variety of academic programmes, extra-curricular activities, and research initiatives that UESD offers. Also, I urge you to be mindful that your academic journey at the University is not only about acquiring knowledge but most importantly, the transformation of our society through the meaningful application of the knowledge and skills acquired. Our dedicated and committed academic and non-academic staff are always ready to assist you and provide you with a conducive atmosphere for your collaborative learning and intellectual development.

Embrace the available opportunities to learn and grow. Familiarise yourselves professionally with your SNES academic advisors and mentors and network with peers in a respectful manner.

I wish you a remarkable and rewarding academic year and look forward to seeing you learning vigorously to achieve academic heights at the University.

Prof. Kofi Mensah Nyarko
