Dr. Jilly Philippa Joel Premkumar is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Sustainable Development of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, Ghana E/R. She has a solid background in Women’s Studies with research interests in Gender and Development, Gender and Academia, Gender and Health, and Gender-Based Violence. She holds a Ph.D. in Women Studies (Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, South India), She has 18 years of work experience (10 years of teaching and research and 8 years of project management in NGOs). With regard to teaching, she had taught post-graduate students on gender studies courses such as Gender and Development, Feminist Research Methodology, Gender and Technology, and Gender and Legal Systems in India and provided research guidance to the students. She has research experience and has worked on action research projects funded by various agencies: Co-investigator in APAC Research Project Comprehensive Study on Female Sex Workers in the Context of Reformation,” Research Associate in ICSSR Research Project Gender Positive Initiatives in Higher Education Institutions,” Co-Coordinator of UNICEF Projects Menstrual Hygiene Management and UNDEF Project Training Need Assessment and Situation Analysis of Women Political Leaders,” Coordinator of ANIDA HIV/AIDS Prevention MSHAP Project of Ghana AIDS Commission. She served as Joint Secretary of the Menstrual Hygiene Management Consortium (MHMC). She is a master trainer in Gender Sensitization, Life Skills Management, and Menstrual Hygiene Management and has trained students in various colleges and schools. She is a member of the Indian Association of Women Studies (IAWS) and the Regional Association of Women Studies (RAWS). She has experience in community development activities through NGOs (AREDS and ANIDA) in project management (planning, Execution, Monitoring and Evaluation) with a focus on gender equality.
