BRIEF PROFILE:

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

publications:

Sam-Quarcoo Dotse is an Associate Professor of Environmental Physics at the Department of Sustainable Energy and Resources, School of Sustainable Development, University of Environment and Sustainable Development. He is an expert on air quality and climate change, and he currently serves as a lead author of the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report’s Working Group 1 contribution. As an environmental physicist, he is interested in applying physics to improve our understanding, forecasting, and attribution of changes to our natural and man-made environments. He uses observational data, statistical analyses, artificial intelligence techniques, and atmospheric modelling to address real-world environmental challenges. Sam-Quarcoo is a member of the Africa Emissions Working Group of the Global Emissions Inventory Initiative (GEIA), the African Group on Atmospheric Sciences (ANGA), the Ghana Meteorological Society, and the Ghana Science Association. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, an MPhil in Physics (Environmental Physics) from the University of Ghana, and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering (Environmental Science option) from the University of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei. From 2010 until 2020, he was a lecturer in the Department of Applied Physics at the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana.
