Dr. Dominic B. Boyetey

BRIEF PROFILE:

Dr. Boyetey is currently the Acting Head for the Department of Built Environment at UESD. He had his PhD and MPhil degrees in Development Studies and Mathematics (Statistics option) from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), respectively. He is specialized in statistical modeling and analytics of sustainable development. Dr. Boyetey has 20 years of progressive work experiences in sectors such as business, academia, NGOs, research institutions and consultancy. Dr. Boyetey is noted for his experience in survey organization, management, analysis and reporting.
His current faculty role includes 40% teaching, 30% research, 20% education administration and 10% community service. Dr. Boyetey’s contribution to education centers on impacting knowledge through the teaching of Mathematics and Statistics to different cohorts of students both at the under graduate and post graduate level. Some of his thought courses are Probability Distributions, Statistical Methods, Sample Survey, Differential Equation, Calculus of Several Variables, Multivariate Distributions, Statistical Inference, Data Analysis with R, Economic and Social Statistics, Design of Experiments, just to mention a few.
Dr. Boyetey’s strength is seen in his ability to apply mathematical and statistical techniques to solve social problems through research. He has published in areas such as time series analysis of climatic variables, welfare and poverty, health promotion, sustainable energy and resources, food security and climate change and sustainable development. Dr. Boyetey has15 published articles in these areas from reputable journals. He has co-authored two books and contributed to several reports commissioned by institutions. He has also presented at several international conferences as well as reviewed several journal articles.
One of his significant achievements in the department was the drafting of the department’s three new degree programmes (BSc. Architecture and Sustainable Development, BSc. Urban Planning and Development and BSc. Construction Management and Sustainable Technology) and operationalization of the new department. Prior to his appointment as the Acting Head, Dr. Boyetey was the Examination Officer at the Department of Sustainable Energy and Resources, UESD and a Senior lecturer in Statistics. Dr. Boyetey is diligent and very committed to completing any task assigned him. These qualities end him opportunity to serve on several committees and boards. Dr. Boyetey is a devoted Christian. He is married to Ewurama and are blessed with two children.
