Dr Michael Larbi Odame is a Lecturer at the School of Sustainable Development, University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Ghana, where he serves as the schools Examination Officer, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the academic assessment process. He holds a PhD in Population Studies from the University of Ghana and has extensive teaching and research experience in population dynamics, sustainable development, and educational practice. In addition, Dr Odame serves as a Course Facilitator for the Master of Education in Teaching in Higher Education (M.Ed. THE) at the University of Cape Coast, where he mentors educators in advanced teaching methodologies, leveraging his deep subject knowledge to guide curriculum development and instructional strategies. With nearly two decades of expertise in teaching international education frameworks including the IGCSE, Cambridge International AS & A Levels, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and the Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) Dr. Odame has taught subjects such as Geography and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS). A distinguished International Baccalaureate (IB) educator and active member of the IB Educators Network (IBEN), he has extensive experience coordinating and supervising extended essay research, fieldwork, and internal assessments in Geography for IBDP students. He is a Curriculum Developer for the IB Diploma Programme, contributing to global standards in Geography education. His pedagogical orientation is grounded in constructivist and transformative learning theories, strongly emphasizing fostering 21st-century skills development among learners. His research expertise spans fertility transitions, marriage and family formation patterns, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and household exposure to indoor air pollution from biomass fuels. His scholarly work focuses on the demographic and health implications of these themes within the broader context of sub-Saharan Africa sustainable development challenges.
