UESD Gets First Deputy Registrar

The Governing Council of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD,) has appointed Dr. Hammond Oppong Kwarteng as the first Deputy Registrar of the University.

Until his appointment, Dr. Oppong Kwarteng was the Senior Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

A statement signed by the Registrar of the University, Mrs Mary Abena Agyepong congratulated Dr.Oppong Kwarteng on his appointment on behalf of the Governing Council and Management and hopes he will bring his rich experience to bear in his new position.

Dr. Oppong Kwarteng holds a PhD in International Conflict Management from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC). He also has a Master of Philosophy Degree in Human Rights from the University of Education, Winneba; a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Cape Coast. He holds a Professional Certificate in Executive Mastery in Organization Development and Appreciative Leadership, from CCOD, CUCG, and IOD, USA; a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution by the Marian Conflict Resolution Centre, CUCG, Fiapre. He is a trained Paralegal by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ghana.

The Deputy Registrar is the founding President of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), UESD Local Branch, and a representative of Convocation (Non-Teaching) on UESD’s Governing Council.

Dr. Oppong Kwarteng has more than two decades of experience in Public Service. He has served in various senior management positions at the Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre. He worked with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection ( formally the Department of Children of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs).

Dr. Oppong Kwarteng also has considerable years of teaching experience from: the UCC Centre for Continuing Education, Sunyani; Methodist Senior Technical Senior High School, Berekum, and the Roman Catholic Primary School, Suma Ahenkro all in the Bono Region (formally Brong Ahafo Region).

Dr. Oppong Kwarteng is a Chartered Professional Administrator (ChPA), and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC).

His research interests include Human Rights, Peace and Security, Conflict Management, Gender, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

His pastimes are reading and driving.

Dr. Oppong Kwarteng is a practising Catholic and a member of the Catholic Mens’ Society. He is married to Anastasia and blessed with seven children.
