The Deans of the School of Sustainable Development and the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), have instituted the Faculty Excellence Awards (FEA). These awards are recognition of the research efforts of the members of both schools in promoting their field of expertise.
The Faculty Excellence Awards, (FEA) was launched at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD. The awards seek to recognize various contributions and efforts made by faculty members within the afore-mentioned schools at UESD. The event took place at the Auditorium of the Multi-purpose building of UESD on 21st December, 2023.
The Chairman of the Faculty Excellence Awards Committee, Dr. Prize F. McApreko explained the Faculty Excellence Awards was created under the distinguished auspices of the Dean of Sustainable Development, Prof. Anthony Amoah and the Dean of School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, Prof. Kofi Mensah Nyarko with the main objective of encouraging excellence in scholarship through publications and other faculty related activities in the 2022/2023 academic year. He further explained that, for the purpose of the awards, the Faculty Awards Committee will use the annual year scheme rather than the academic year. This means the time period for publications and other activities will range between January 1 – December 31, 2022. He further stated that the committee will use Scopus rated criteria and Web of science in ranking applicants. Dr. McApreko said, winners will be crowned based on the number of publications in international and reputably recognized journals.
The winner of the award is set to receive $200 dollars cash prize, with the first (1st) and second (2nd) runner up receiving citation for the year in question. This awards are the first of its kind geared towards rewarding and encouraging people in academia to bring out their best towards achievement of UESD’s short and long term goals.
