B.Sc. Architecture and Sustainable Design

SSCE Applicants

Core Subjects: Credit passes A-D in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies.

Elective Subjects: Credit passes in Elective Mathematics and any Two (2) from the following options:

General Science: Chemistry, Biology and Physics

General Art: Economics, and Geography

Technical: Technical Drawing or Engineering Science, Woodwork, Building Construction, and Metalwork.

Visual Art: General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design and Picture Making (In addition to these subjects, applicants without Elective Mathematics but have Physics or Chemistry can apply).

WASSCE Applicants

Core Subjects: Credit passes A1-C6 in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies.

Elective Subjects: Credit passes in Elective Mathematics and any Two (2) from the following options:

General Science: Chemistry, Biology and Physics

General Art: Economics, and Geography

Technical: Technical Drawing or Engineering Science, Woodwork, Building Construction, and Metalwork.

Visual Art: General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design and Picture Making (In addition to these subjects, applicants without Elective Mathematics but have Physics or Chemistry can apply).

A Level Certificate and Equivalent Applicants

Five Credit passes in O’level including English Language and Mathematics and any Three (3) A’level passes from the following options:

Group A: Elective Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry

Group B: Elective Mathematics, Geography, Economics,

Group C: Elective Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Building Construction, General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design and Picture Making

General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Holders

Applicants must obtain passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Core Mathematics plus any three elective subjects eg Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Technical Drawing, Building Construction, General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design and Picture Making would be eligible for admission into level 100.

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

 These applicants must:

  • Possess Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds, and other authorized awarding bodies in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II in lieu of passes in English and Mathematics.
  • Have NABPTEX certificate II in relevant trade areas in addition to three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects, including English and Mathematics.
  • Possess a National Certificate II qualification in Competency Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF).

HND Applicants

HND holders (Second Class Lower) with relevant background may be admitted after passing an interview, while HND First Class may be considered for admission without an interview.

Diploma Applicants

Two years Diploma holders (Least Second Class Upper) from recognised Universities may be admitted after passing an interview while three years Diploma with distinction may be admitted into the programme without interview. All shall be admitted into the programme from the first year.

B. Ed Education (Technical)

Applicants must have first degree in Technical Educationand pass a selection interview. All applicants will be placed at level 100 except in a case where the applicant is coming from an accredited university with a similar background (Architecture). The level of placement may be determined on a case-by-case basis, taken into consideration the applicant’s transcript, to inform placement in an appropriate level.

Mature Applicants

Applicants must be 25 years at the time of the application. Applicants must also present their Ghana Cards together with a valid Birth Certificate (not less than five years) as proof.

Applicants may be required to pass a qualifying examination which shall form the basis for short-listing of candidates for an interview.  Candidates must also pass an interview.

Foreign Students

Foreign students may be admitted on the basis of qualification from their home country for which the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) shall determine equivalence. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
