B.Sc Aquaculture Resources Management

The Programme seeks to attract holders of all secondary and post-secondary education certificates (see details below) who meet the admission requirements.  Enrollment will be opened to both local and foreign nationals. Admission requirements are as follow:  

  1. SSSCE

Credit passes (A-D) in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science and any three elective subjects which should include at least one of the following: Physics, Mathematics, Biology; Chemistry, General Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture and Animal Husbandry, with aggregate score of 24 or better.

  1. WASSCE Applicants

At least a credit (A1-C6) in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science and any three elective subjects which should include at least one of the following: Physics, Mathematics, Biology; Chemistry, General Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture and Animal Husbandry, with aggregate score 36 or better.

  1. A LEVEL Certificate Applicants

Must obtain five credits (including English Language, Mathematics, an Arts subject and a Science subject) in the WAEC General Certificate of Education (GCE/WASC) Ordinary Level Examination; and 3 passes at the Advanced Level of the GCE. One of the Advanced Level passes should be a grade D or better. A pass in General Paper must also be obtained.

  1. HND/Diploma Applicants

HND holders (Second Class) with relevant background may be admitted in Third Year of the Programme after passing an interview, while HND First Class may be considered for admission without an interview. Two year Diploma holders (Second Class) may be admitted into second year while three years Diploma with distinction may be admitted into third year of the Programme without interview.

  • Mature Applicants

Mature Applicants must have attained the age of 25years or above with passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/O’ Level Mathematics and English and relevant working experience, and must also pass a written examination and interview conducted by the School.

  • Foreign Students

Foreign students may be admitted on the basis of qualification from their home country for which the GTEC shall determine equivalence. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.

  • The applicant must have qualifications equivalent to WASSCE, SSSCE, and, or GCE ’A’ Level to be considered for admission or any other nationally recognized standard High School level examinations (for qualifications from countries outside WAEC’s aegis).
  • All foreign qualifications are to be referred to the GTEC for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission.
  • Applicants should have their results translated into English
  • Applicants should be able to read and write in English.
  • Applicants may also be required to pass an entrance examination and an interview.
