The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, Eastern Region chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has officially inaugurated its newly elected executives. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the University’s Auditorium Multi-Purpose Building at a short ceremony.
A six-member leadership team, chaired by Mr. Steve Essilfie Nyanful from the Finance Directorate, will steer the affairs of the association for the next two years. The rest of the executives are: Chairman: Vice-Chairman, Mr. Derrick Owoahene Acheampon: Trustee: Mrs. Eunice Asem: Secretary, Mr. Michael Anaman: Women’s Commissioner, Miss Paulina Okine, Assistant Secretary, Miss Sitsofe Kponor. They succeed the outgoing leadership team headed by Mr. Kofi Payin Effraim.
The Registrar of the University, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong, who chaired the occasion, administered the oath of office. In her remarks, she commended the SSA Electoral Commission for conducting a transparent and peaceful election and expressed appreciation to the University community for its support.
Mrs. Agyepong urged the new executives to foster continuity, collaboration, and strong institutional systems, emphasizing the need for robust advocacy and constructive dialogue in addressing staff welfare concerns. She encouraged them to maintain close working relationships with their predecessors to ensure a smooth transition.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman Mr. Nyanful pledged to prioritise the welfare of members and introduce strategic policies aimed at strengthening the association’s financial base. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing executives for their dedication and assured members that his administration would strive to build on previous achievements.
