The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, Eastern Region and Thinking Minds Ghana (TMG), a social innovation and enterprise hub, have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

The agreement was formally signed at a brief ceremony held at the Council Chamber of UESD. Signing on behalf of the University, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Wiafe Debrah, expressed optimism that the collaboration would yield significant benefits for both institutions and the wider community.
Dr. Felicia Annin, Head of Research at UESD, also present at the ceremony, highlighted the University’s ongoing “UESD Nkabom Project,” which is run in collaboration with other universities and supported by Mastercard and McGill University. The project seeks to provide employment opportunities for the youth and address gender concerns through initiatives focused on agro-waste, aquaculture, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Annin expressed hope that Thinking Minds Ghana would come on board this initiative, given their shared objectives.

On behalf of Thinking Minds Ghana, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Seth Payain Boamah, expressed excitement about the collaboration. He noted that initiatives such as incubation hubs and gender-focused digital transformation networks would complement UESD’s ongoing projects.

The partnership will facilitate joint research and development in key areas including environmental sustainability, green entrepreneurship, and community development. Additionally, it aims to promote sustainability-focused entrepreneurship among UESD students and alumni, while offering mentoring and coaching through TMG’s incubation programmes.
