New Principal of Mt. Mary College of Education Calls on Management of UESD

The newly appointed Principal of Mt. Mary College of Education, Somanya, Prof. Kennedy Alatinga, has paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD). Led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, the UESD team warmly received Prof. Alatinga and his team at the Council Chamber.

During the meeting, Prof. Alatinga expressed gratitude for the warm reception and outlined the purpose of his visit: to familiarise himself with UESD’s leadership and explore potential areas of collaboration, including research, teaching, and supervision. He suggested that UESD could boost enrollment and revenue by running weekend programs targeting the working class.

In response, Prof. Nyarko-Sampson commended Prof. Alatinga for visiting just two days after assuming office, demonstrating his commitment to building strong relationships. He highlighted the existing warm relationship between UESD and Mt. Mary College of Education and introduced members of the UESD management team.
Prof. Nyarko-Sampson also shared UESD’s plans to introduce an MSc programmme in Health, Safety, and Environment, noting that Prof. Alatinga’s expertise in health policy would be invaluable. He emphasised the importance of collaboration on UESD’s Community-Based Experiential Learning (CoBEL) initiative and assured Prof. Alatinga of UESD’s support for a continued successful partnership.

As a gesture of goodwill, Prof. Nyarko-Sampson extended an invitation to members of Mt. Mary College of Education to present at UESD’s 5th Sustainable Development Conference, held from 4th-6th September, 2025. Other key discussions were by Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edward Wiafe Debrah, Registrar, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong and Ag. Vice-Principal of St. Mary, Mrs. Patience Farkor Kpeyibor.
