Members of the Department of General Studies, under the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (SNES) of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), have donated books, scholarly journals, and a public address (PA) system to the University. They were donated by the Dean of SNES, Prof. Shine Francis Gbedemah, and a faculty member of the Department of General Studies, Dr. Louis Kusi Frimpong. who co-authored two of the books, while the Department donated a PA system, comprising a speaker and two microphones.

The Head of Department of General Studies, Dr. Jilly Philippa J. Premkumar, stated that the gesture was funded by faculty and staff of the Department, an initiative that began during the tenure of the immediate past Head of Department, Dr. Prize F. Y. McApreko. She noted that the acquisition of the PA system was to make it easier to reach out to students during lectures to address challenges encountered in delivering lectures to large class sizes.

Receiving the items, the Registrar, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong, expressed appreciation to the Dean of SNES, the Head of Department, and the faculty of the Department of General Studies for their generosity. She assured the donors that the items would be put to effective use to enhance teaching and learning across the University. She officially handed over the books and journals to the Senior Assistant Librarian, Dr. George Clifford Yamson, and tasked the Director of Physical Development and Estate Management, Surv. Isaac Abbam, to ensure that the PA system is duly recorded in the University’s asset register and made available for use by the Department. Also, present were the Director of Finance, Mr. Baffuor Awuah Kwabi; Head of Human Resource Division, Mrs. Rose Nandara Faanu; and some faculty members from the Department of General Studies
