Inception Meeting for UESD ‘Nkabom’ Project Ends

The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) has successfully concluded a three-day inception meeting for the Agric-Waste Management and Aquaculture Technology Entrepreneurship Initiative under the ‘Nkabom’ project. The meeting which was held in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua brought together project members from the University to chart the way forward for the initiative.

Vice-Chancellor and Principal Investigator(PI) of the initiative, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson commended project members for their invaluable contributions and urged them to work diligently to meet deadlines. He expressed gratitude to Mastercard Foundation and McGill University for their support, as well as Prof. Wiafe Debrah, Project Coordinator, for his pivotal role in facilitating the implementation of the project.

The ‘Nkabom’ project aims to provide dignified and fulfilling work for 3 million young Ghanaian youth by 2030. Key partners include five tertiary institutions, the Association of Ghana Industries, Mastercard Foundation, and McGill University, Canada.

The workshop yielded several key outcomes, including an inception report and work plan, shared draft curriculum framework, draft research agenda, stakeholder engagement strategy, communication strategy, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Plan.

With the inception meeting concluded, the project is set to move into its implementation phase, with project members expressing satisfaction with the clarity and insight gained into their roles. The ‘Nkabom’ project promises to make a significant impact on youth employment and sustainable development in Ghana
