As part of activities marking the Internal Audit Week celebrations of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanaya, Eastern Region, staff members of the Directorate donated educational materials to two schools in the Yilo Krobo Municipality to support academic activities and improve learning outcomes.
The beneficiary schools were Ogome Anglican Primary School and Somanya Technical Institute at Social Welfare.
At Ogome Anglican Primary School, the team donated 600 exercise books, 168 mathematical sets, 120 packets of crayons, 10 packets of whiteboard markers, 24 packets of pencils, 10 boxes of pens, and 240 pieces of erasers valued at GHC6,000.

The Director of Internal Audit, Joyce Anastasia Sam, stated that the donation formed an integral part of the Week celebration, which seeks not only to promote the relevance of internal auditing but also to positively impact surrounding communities through educational support initiatives. She encouraged both pupils and staff of the school to make good use of the items and to always remember UESD whenever they use them.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Headmistress, Madam Janet Mamle Atter, expressed profound gratitude to UESD for the thoughtful gesture, describing the donation as timely and highly beneficial, as many pupils lacked some of the learning materials donated. She assured the team that the items would be distributed fairly to achieve the intended purpose.

The team later proceeded to Somanya Technical Institute at Social Welfare, where they donated 10 markers and two graph boards with complete sets of drawing instruments to support teaching and practical learning sessions. The Internal Audit Directorate team also delivered a brief presentation on financial literacy to the students. The session focused on cultivating healthy financial habits, discipline, savings, and an investment culture among students. They were encouraged to prioritise their needs over wants and to develop the habit of saving and investing, regardless of how little their income may be.

In his remarks, the headmaster of the school, Roberto Atigyelsum, expressed appreciation to the team for the generous support. He assured them that the donated items would be used effectively to enhance teaching and learning in the school and affirmed that his institution remains committed to strengthening its relationship with UESD.
The team further promoted academic programmes offered by UESD, particularly to final-year students, and encouraged them to apply to the University.
