She indicated that the theme of the celebration is closely aligned with the University’s core values, emphasizing that building trust and confidence is rooted in honesty. She expressed hope that the planned activities would have a positive impact on the University’s staff and stakeholders.

Ms. Joyce Anastasia Sam, Director of Internal Audit

Addressing participants, the Director of Internal Audit, Ms. Joyce Anastasia Sam, explained that May is globally recognised as Audit Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the role of internal auditors. She reiterated that the vision of the UESD Internal Audit Directorate is to catalyse positive change by providing independent and objective assurance and advisory services to the University. She expressed appreciation to staff members for their participation.

Touching on the theme, “Building Trust and Confidence,” Ms. Sam stated that trust is fundamental to the prosperity of the University and called on management to foster a culture of responsiveness and care for staff, strategic planning to achieve institutional goals, effective and transparent communication, and value creation through efficiency and innovation. She further noted that internal auditors should be regarded as partners rather than antagonists, as is often perceived. She therefore urged management to continue granting the Internal Audit Directorate the independence required to effectively discharge its mandate while promoting accountability, transparency, and compliance.
