The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, Eastern Region has received a donation of twenty-eight (28) iPads to support teaching and research activities under its Remote Sensing programme.

The devices were secured through the efforts of Mr. Raphael Ganyo, an IT specialist with expertise in cybersecurity, originally from Ghana’s Eastern Region and currently based in Nevada, United States. He is also the founder of the Ensign Outreach Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering children and youth through education, skills training, and community development initiatives. The donation forms part of his broader commitment to giving back to society by leveraging partnerships with organisations he has worked with.

Presenting the items, a representative of the donor, Mr. Stephen Amakye, explained that UESD was selected due to its strong academic focus and demonstrated capacity to effectively manage and utilise such resources. He expressed confidence that the devices would enhance students’ ability to collect, process, and analyse geospatial data for both academic and field-based research.

Receiving the donation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, expressed gratitude to Mr. Ganyo and his partners for their timely intervention. He noted that the support comes at a critical time as the University intensifies its practical training in remote sensing and assured the donors that the University will implement strict accountability measures to ensure the proper use and safekeeping of the devices.
