UESD Holds 2nd Congregation, Awards Degrees to 200 Graduates

The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, Eastern Region held its 2nd Congregation at the New Auditorium, conferring various categories of degrees on 200 graduates. The ceremony was presided over by the Registrar, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong, alongside council members, management, staff, family and friends of the graduands.

The graduating class comprised 122 students from the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (SNES) and 78 from the School of Sustainable Development (SSD), with 120 males and 80 females. Thirty-eight (38) students graduated with First Class Honours, and Miss Christabel Kekeli Acorlor, a BSc. Water Resources Development student, emerged as Valedictorian with a CGPA of 3.9.
She swept nine (9) out of 37 awards.

The special guest of Honour, Hon.Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, was represented by Dr. Kwasi Akyem Apea Kubi.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, congratulated the graduands on their resilience and commitment, urging them to make purposeful choices and become agents of change.

The Chairman of Council, Mr. Seth Emmanuel Terkper, commended the graduates for their hard work and dedication, reminding them that education is a form of service.

Guest speaker Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, Chief Executive of the Tree Crops Development Authority, emphasised the importance of environmental sustainability, challenging the graduates to apply their knowledge to solve societal problems.

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita A. Adjei Awatey and former Minister of Education, Mr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh
