UESD Water Resources Department Hosts Student-Faculty Engagement

The Department of Water Resources and Aquaculture Management at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, held an interactive session for its Levels 100 and Level 400 students after their end of 2nd Semester examinations, for the 2024/25 academic year. The session, attended by faculty and administrative staff, was led by the Head of Department, Dr. George Lutterodt. It aimed to strengthen connections between students and faculty while promoting mentorship, guidance, and a shared sense of purpose within the department.

The engagement sought to encourage and prepare final-year students for life after University and to motivate first-year students as they begin their academic journey.

In his remarks, Dr. Lutterodt said the gathering was meant to inspire focus, discipline, and commitment among students. He stressed that decisions made in their formative years would have lasting impacts on their academic and professional lives.

Faculty members took turns to advise the students on academic excellence, time management, and professional conduct. They emphasised that character is as important as academic achievement and urged students to uphold integrity, humility, and a sense of responsibility both on and off campus.

Level 400 students shared reflections on their experiences at UESD, speaking candidly about the challenges they faced, the lessons learned, and the personal growth they achieved. They described their time at the University as transformative and expressed gratitude to the department for its support and mentorship.

Level 100 students also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact with faculty and their seniors, noting that the session provided them with valuable insights and motivation to guide them through their studies.
