The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, has initiated discussions with the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) aimed at establishing a strategic partnership to enhance teaching, research, and industry collaboration.
The UESD delegation, led by Dr. Dominic Boyetey, Head of Department, comprised Mr. Robert Kwame Senu, Assistant Lecturer, and Mr. Evans Borkor, Assistant Registrar.
Key areas of discussion included educational facility visits for students and staff, collaborative research and knowledge dissemination, training and capacity-building projects, and the development of standards for the built environment.
The GSA team, led by Nana Pokuaa Asare-Twerefour, Head of the Food, Chemical and Material Department, outlined the Authority’s mandate in developing and maintaining national and international standards. She expressed the GSA’s readiness to collaborate with UESD in pursuing initiatives of mutual interest.
Nana Pokuaa Asare-Twerefour further underscored the need to formalise the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and encouraged UESD to consider introducing postgraduate programmes in Standardization and Total Quality Management.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both institutions expressing commitment to work together to strengthen research, teaching, and professional linkages for national development.
