UESD Registrar Pays Courtesy Call on Eastern Regional Minister

The Registrar of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong, has paid a courtesy call on the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey, at her office at the Regional Coordinating Council in Koforidua.

Mrs. Agyepong was accompanied by the Head of the International Programmes Office (IPO), Ms. Mavis Kissi, and other IPO personnel. The visit aimed to formally congratulate Hon. Awatey on her appointment as Regional Minister and to provide an overview of UESD’s progress since its inception, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and pressing needs.

Key issues discussed included ongoing construction projects at the University, particularly Phase II, which requires expedited action, and the status of land documentation for the satellite campus at Donkorkrom in the Afram Plains. Mrs. Agyepong also drew attention to the establishment of the International Programmes Office and appealed for support to strengthen its operations through resource provision.

Hon. Awatey expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the matters raised. She assured the UESD delegation that she would follow up personally, including a planned visit to the University. The Minister tasked the Regional Engineer to address the Afram Plains land documentation issue and promised to revisit a previously received sponsorship request letter from the IPO.

The Minister’s team included the Eastern Regional Engineer, who took note of the technical concerns discussed.
